Project Management
Management Approach
As principal and senior project manager, James W. Emr, AIA
conducts weekly in-house staffing and project scheduling meetings.
At these meetings, new projects and staffing requirements
are discussed, and new work assigned to a project manager.
Experienced project architects and additional staff are assembled
into teams to provide the type of expertise and level of manpower
necessary to facilitate each project. The project development
schedule and the staffing needs are discussed weekly to ensure
that all projects are adequately staffed for quality assurance
and timely completion. By creating this type of project personnel
structure, a staff member who is familiar with the project
is readily available, further insuring project quality and
adherence to schedule.
Consultant and In-House Coordination
At each project phase, an inter-discipline coordination meeting
is conducted. At this meeting, each consultant coordinates
with the entire team to ensure total team understanding of
the project systems, their interrelationships and their critical
elements. These meetings are scheduled near the end of each
phase, allowing sufficient time to modify drawings, coordinate
documents and provide a final review. Most importantly, time
is scheduled for the Principal or Senior Associate to thoroughly
check and coordinate the entire set of project documents at
the end of each phase before the documents leave the office.
This review is crucial to issuing a set of documents that
are complete, coordinated and accurate. Through the use of
these routine procedures and other in-house standards and
checklists, we endeavor to maintain a high and ever-increasing
level of quality.
