Parkville High School

Project Name:
Parkville High School
Modernization and Addition

Location:
Parkville, Maryland

Owner:
Baltimore County Public Schools

Final Cost:
$6.6 Million

This project consists of a three-story classroom and media center wing sited to enhance and expand the existing school. Due to a small, restrictive site and the desire to maintain a cohesive academic plan layout, the wing was integrally connected to the existing building with two pedestrian skybridges, connecting the second and third floor of the old and new portions of the facility. Access and height around and between the academic wings were maintained for emergency vehicles, thus optimizing the complete school without compromising the code and safety concerns. The skybridges will also act as aesthetic transitions between the old and new portions of the building and offer excellent interim circulation to an academic environment which was doubled in size.

SEAA is currently working on a scope/feasibility study on the remainder of the school. This appears to be headed towards a revitalization of the original facility.
