Severna Park Middle School is to be revitalized and added to in order to meet the programmatic requirements of the Educational Specifications. Revitalization includes a thorough overhaul of finishes found in the existing building, replacement of all building systems (MEP, IT, Communications, Life Safety, etc.) and enhancement of the existing exterior skin of the building. These improvements would provide the function of a brand new facility from both the interior and exterior. The building will also receive a series of seven additions. The primary beneficiaries of these additions are as follows: food services, administration, art, music, media center, planning, and resource. The additions will also provide additional building circulation to relieve some of the building’s current circulation problems. Since performing the feasibility study, design services for this project have been completed and the project has successfully bid; the project is now in Phase 2 of construction.
