Cove Point Family Aquatics Center

Project Name:
Cove Point Family Aquatics Center
New Facility

Location:
Prince Frederick, Maryland

Owner:
Calvert County Government

Estimated Cost:
$2.15 Million

This program calls for a Lap Pool with a diving well, a diving board and a jump board, and a handicapped ramp to meet ADA accessibility requirements. The pool has under water lights in the deep end and side walls. This pool was aligned with the Bathhouse and the decks positioned to allow for the future winterization cover. The Leisure Pool was designed with a zero bottom-beach entry for ADA access. The Leisure pool has several water features including two water flumes from a 16’-0” tower, a crossing feature, tumble bucket, tea cup, floating crab, water drop, and a funbrella over an underwater bench. The program also calls for a Wading Pool, which has a zero bottom beach entry, several beach wash heads, and three bubblers. A ‘lil-squirt whale is located in the center of the pool. A 30’ x 12’ shade structure spans over the center of the pool. The plan is centered around a control area, which monitors people coming to the pool as well as overlooking the pools themselves.
