A.V. Symington Aquatic Center

Project Name:
A.V. Symington Aquatic Center
New Outdoor Facility at Ida Lee Park

Location:
Leesburg, Virginia

Owner:
Town of Leesburg, Virginia

Final Cost:
$5.5 Million

This project involved a new Leisure pool, a 485 ft. long Lazy River with a zero bottom beach entry, a Wading Pool, and a Lap Pool.

The Leisure Pool is adjacent to the Lazy River and includes a floatable snake and alligator tethered to the pool bottom, a Tumble Bucket, and an underwater bench covered by a shade structure. A small shallow Wading Pool, with a Lil- Squirt Whale and a Gang slide, connects to the side of the Leisure Pool. Additionally, there is a connecting passage to a small Lap Pool, which features a Lilly- Pad crossing feature. Adjacent to the Leisure Pool is a new, 48’x 4 Lane Lap Pool which includes a Miracle Drop Slide and a Gang Slide, that splash into one side provides additional activity for the Aquatic facility.

The complex also features two large flumes and a 19’ high launch platform. Both slides are 38” open slides; one slide is a 130’ long,  figure eight pattern, and the other slide is a 122’ long, which offers a different path of travel. Both flumes drop into a common splash pool.

The Bathhouse contains a Snack Bar, which has its own snack terrace overlooking the pools.
